Update: People have predictably asked: What is best? I’m leaving that intentionally open. I’m thinking that maybe we should do an Oppo-Car-Bracket. Would people be interested?
I know there are some folks here own some fast, old, weird, and smelly things - who owns the best stuff and how did they or you end up with it?

I can’t tell you what the best car is, but I can tell you what all best cars have in common!
They all run!

Cameron Glickenhaus sometimes stops by the FP. He wins

My car certainly smelly, weird and old..not fast tho. It just sits in my driveway collecting mold. And stealing money from me and taking my weekends. But I love it and it will always be the best to me. (Even more so when the 6port turbo build is done)
Here’s and old pic when I was daily driving it.
So I win right? Admit it all of you love rotarys. Don't lie.

Me, duh. And I have it because I bought it.

The only one that beats him is Glickenhaus, but he isn't really here too often.

Best as in fastest lap time? Drag time? Most luxurious? Best looking? Street cred? Jalop points? ...i.e. brown diesel wagon miata whatever thing...
DeMuro recently posted about the car that “has it all” or something like that. I forget how he concluded it all and I don’t have the time to look it up since I’m on my phone and I just boarded this plane and won’t be able to respond for a few hours. But I have a 2015 Mustang GT and I love it even though it’s not the best car in the history of cars ever but oh well.
Also CA coal miner wins because Ford GT. Not the new one, the better one.

Bit vague but I’m pretty content with my stable of cars. MK7 GTI and an E30 320i Touring. Don’t know if they are the best as we don’t know what that means but I love them both.

I have the best car, which is the best except for the won-the-lottery car, which I'll never have so it doesn't count anyway.

Best or fast? Not me. Old and smelly? I have one that meets those criteria. A ‘71 Camaro that was bought for $800 and I’m not sure it was worth that. I did originally have a ‘72 that was in pretty good shape but it met its demise against a telephone pole which did too much damage to the unibody to easily fix. Due to life reasons all I could keep from that car was its engine and transmission. As it stands now (after a TON of work) the ‘71 runs and moves but is still in need of body work.

![]() 05/07/2016 at 18:14 |

Yeah, CACoalminer has a 918, I think a Ford GT, and he had a Carrera GT.

I've never seen him on OPPO but he sometimes shows up on the FP if there's an article about one of his cars

Provided you’re not a thief the best cars are typically the ones you own.

People can talk about cars they’d kill for, but you’re probably the only one who has a car my Mom would kill for...she still has a place in her heart for her old Saab.

Not me, though I think mine is the best for me at the present time.

2 Ford GTs I think. And a McLaren 12C, and I think he told me he used to have a 911 GT3 RS 4.0 once

High revving small displacement motor, a propensity for trying to kill me, faster than you’d think, T-Tops, rusting, and under 2000 lbs. Charlie’s the best car here.

I own something with VTEC.

There’s a guy here who has an SLS AMG. Which is awesome. But it sounds like the mysteriuos CA Coal Miner has him beat. Never seen him post myself.

More or less, it shares pretty much everything with the Beetle

9a bracket, or daily 1 opponaut car against another opponaut’s vote contest would be a fun recurring event.
just a no hard feelings daily popular vote. eventual champion would result. maybe the outcome wont be a surprise, but itd be an interesting daily showcaee of two cars and see what it is oppo actually values on a car

Put the Miata engine in the RX, the truck engine in the miata, and part the truck to buy a new top. Problem solved, thanks for coming. :)

Battery Tender has the SLS. He also has a Focus RS ordered. Coal Miner is the one with the Ford GT iirc.

You can! For just three easy payments of $29.95!
Seriously though, the hardest part of getting started as a co-driver is probably getting the time off from your boss. If you can manage that you can totally do it.

I have this, which I am restoring, it’s my dream car!
and this
Which is just for fun :)

One car that does it all! Land speed, autocross, track days, sub 3000 lbs with a proper 6 speed. Infinitely modable and parts are cheap.

2006 GTO: I bought it for my DD. Took me 6 months to find a car. I found it in Reno for 20k with only 9,700 miles on it in 2015.
1979 928: Bought it for a small project for me and my now ex. Bought it for $500. Now I just need to get rid of it.
1969 AH Sprite: Found this on CL and bought it for $500 to be my HS senior project. She has been moved multiple places with me, never finished. Someday....
